Cricket CENTURY BY MAY

Surrey Batting Enlivened (N .ZP.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 7. A brilliant century by P B. H. May made up for the dullness of Surrey’s early batting against the Pakistatn touring team at the oval today. Facing a total of 388 for six declared, Surrey at first showed little inclination to attack the bowling. M. J. K. Stewart pottered about for three hours in making 63, and even May was restrained for a long time. He finally cut loose to make 119, and with R Jefferson and A Long adding 87 breezy runs for the ninth wicket. Surrey declared at nine for 348—40 behind. In half an hour’s batting before the close the Pakistanis made 21 without loss.. Scores:— SURREY First Innings M. J. K.
