DUTIES: It is proposed to study in detail the ecology of skeleton weed . (Chondrilla j uncea L.), a perennial of European origin which has become a serious weed in the wheat growing areas of southeastern Australia. The Investigation will include the distribution of the species in relation to climatic, soil and anthopogenic factors of the environment and the variation, if any. in genotype, physiology and morphology in different parts of its range. Facilities exist for experimental work in the field greenhouse and in CERES the controlled environment laboratory nearing completion at Canberra. QUALIFICATIONS: University Honours degree in Science or Agricultural Science and at last two years’ research experience. Initially emphasis will be given to the role of growth regulators in the regeneration process.
