Police Force Insurance
(Special Crspdt N.Z P.A I LONDON, June 8. Twelve of Britain’s 158 police forces have taken out an insurance cover to provide benefits for people who get killed or hurt helping the police. The benefits are £5OOO for the death of a person aged 16 or over, with comparable sums for the loss of limbs and other injuries This insurance move is a result of Scotland Yard’s crime prevention campaign, started earlier this year, as part of which the man in the street was urged to help the police more.
Cyclist Hurt.—A cyclist. Henry Pierce, aged 52, of 9 Hooker place, -was injured slightly in a collision with a car on the Main South road at 8.30 a.m. yesterday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and sent home
