The improvement in production conditions experienced during March has continued throughout April and May. according to the latest dairy industry bulletin. Temperatures have been warm for this time of the year and with some good falls of rain, pastures and stock have shown a wonderful recovery from the effects of the earlier dry conditions. Prospects for the winter and for the new season are regarded as extremely good, the bulletin adds. Butterfat processed by dairy factories during April totalled 28.000,0001 b —1,400,0001 b or 5.2 per cent, above last year, but 1300,0001 b or 4.6 per cent, below the five-year average. Production was at record levels in Nelson, Marlborough and Westland, but was below average in all North Island districts with the exception of Northland.
