Parliament TWO-HOUR SITTING
Tributes Paid By House (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. June 8 In a two-hour sitting this morning, the House of Representatives paid its respects to the memory of former members. accepted a petition, and received four local bills. The House stood as a mark of respect for three former Parliamentarians. Sir Clifton Webb and Messrs H E Herring and F. G. Young. Eulogistic references were made to two members, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Mr Skinner* and the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Hayman) who died this year.
The local bills, each of which was read a first time and referred to the Local Bills Committee, were the Auckland Transport Board Amendment Bill, the Te Aroha Borough Council Water Supply Empowering Bill, the Coromandel County Council Ambulance Bill, and the Taranaki Harbour Board Empowering Bill. The annual report of the Government Insurance Commissioner was tabled. The House rose at 1150 a m. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
