RICH MAN, POOR MAN

WHIM WHAM)
Other Ministers must envy the Hon. Gotz, Being All so short of Money while he has Pots. And his Golden Kiwi keeps on laying and laying At a Rate which is startling it not actually dismaying. The Hon. Gotz enjoys, or suffers, as so Few Of Us are granted the Opportunity to do. That not unenviable Predicament which is Sometimes called an Embarrassment of Riches. HIS Problem being simply how to get rid of the Stuff, While OURS is the more usual One of getting Enough Does the Hon. Gotz shrink from or shirk this heavy Task? Sir. what a ridiculous Question to ask’ He bears this Burden gladly because he’d rather Be Hon. Rich Uncle and Hon. Fairy Godfather To all the nation’s Oliver Twists and Little Nells Than share the Responsibility with Anyone else. Of course the nation’s Conscience (if Any) i 8 a trifle sick About this naughty Gambling and getting rich quick— No wonder, then, that the Hon. Gotz takes Pains To find virtuous Uses for such vicious Gains, i.e„ Youth Clubs where the delinquent Young may learn ( That the Wages of Sin are a diminishing Return And Crime doesn’t pay. etc., and Violence won’t get Them far, and the T.AB. is really a MUCH better Bet. Sir. I’ve no Doubt that this is All well-intentioned. But other Hon. Ministers are hard-up. as I’ve mentioned. And one Hon. Minister, who in soberest Truth Is responsible for our NON-delinquent Youth. Can’t pay their Teachers enough and is positively hurt When they want a few Bob more for marking School Cert. . . . It’s not for Me to read the Hon. Gotz a Homily, But I can see. if he can’t, what an Anomaly This is! And if THAT’S the State the Cabinet is in. Home could be the best Place for Charity to begin.
