A tribute to the late Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon. a life member of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, was paid by the chamber’s president. Mr P. M. Mac Shane. when the council met last evening. Mr Mac Gibbon had been a member of the chamber since 1920. a council member since 1935. and president from 1937 to 1941. Mr Mac Shane said. A tribute was also paid to another member, the late Mr V J. McKibbin Air Commodore R. K Stevens, who has been director of the' National Safety Association for the last four years, has resigned from this position to join a business partnership operating as safety consultants in New Zealand and Australia. When he retired from the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Air Commodore Stevens was Air Member for personnel on the Air Board. Air Commodore Stevens's resignation will take effect from next September.— (F.0.0.R.)
Mr R. A. Witbrock was congratulated on his appointment as chairman of the Road Tunnel Authority by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce’s council last evening. Mr L. V. Etwell was welcomed! as a new member of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce council when it met last evening, and will be convener f of the council’s transport committee.
