Badminton SELWYN WELL BEATEN

Good Win To Christchurch

Last year's champion side. Avonalde. and Christchurch, are still unbeaten after the third round of the Canterbury Badminton Association's A grade inter-club matches. Christchurch beat Selwyn I. which up to that match was also unbeaten. and Avonalde narrowly defeated Selwyn 11. In the other match. Knox beat Railway. to gain its first success or the season.

Christchurch surprised with the ease of its defeat of the solid Selwyn I combination Winning all the men’s doubles and all the mixed doubles. Christchurch’s men played fine badminton. With one exception. tiiese eight matches were won fairlv comfortably. D. B. Reid showed a return to form with a convincing win (15-4) over J. Read. These are two experienced players, and any meeting between them t» likely to produce a good standard of all-round play, but. on the day. Reid was too steady and accurate. R. K Macefield, whose form this season has not been good, beat W. Fox (SeJwyn). tor the loss of only two points. In the match between the twp top women.
