RACIAL BAR IN SPORT
Olympic Instruction To South Africa (N,Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) MOSCOW, June 6. The International Olympic Committee has told South Africa to end her racial discrimination in sport. The committee, meeting in Moscow, warned South Africa’s Olympic Committee it would be Suspended next year if the Government did not change its sport policy of racial discrimination. The International chancellor (Mr Otto Mayer) said the committee took the decision “by a great majority” with five votes against. The voting was on an amendment to a Soviet proposal calling for immediate suspension “to force the Government to change its policy.”
