Nurse Maude Finances

The Nurse Maude District Nursing Association is showing a total deficiency of £1734, even though all classes of revenue, with the exception of street appeals, which are declining, have increased during the last year. The annual report says the deficiency on the district work is £555 while the hospital work is showing a deficiency of £1179, both of which are greater than last year.

Membership of the association now stands at 646, while there are 115 full and part-time staff members, says the report. Almost 1000 treatments a week were given by the district nurses, who treated more than 500 patients every

month. This brought the total of treatments for the year to 51,986. There were 416 homes served by home aids, who made 6361 working visits, and 33,553 articles from 3591 service visits were washed by the hospital laundry, said the report. With the bed occupancy at the Nurse Maude Memorial Hospital nearly 88 per cent, and that at Averill House Hospital 98 per cent, a busy year was experienced by both hospitals and there was a continuing demand for the services which they provided.
