BY-ELECTION IN TIMARU
Mr Pickering Not Standing Mr N. G. Pickering, member of Parliament for St. Albans from 1957 to 1960, will not be a nominee for selection as the Labour Party’s candidate for the Timaru by-election after the resignation of Mr C. L. CanMr W. S. B. Good, chairman of the St. Albans interbranch council of the Labour Party, said yesterday that Mr Pickering had been approached and asked to reconsider his decision to accept nomination for Timaru. as the party in St. Albans, "mindful of the excellent service he gave to the electorate as a member of Parliament ” wanted to retain him for the General Election to be held next year. Mr Pickering had agreed to withdraw his nomination in Timaru, Mr Good said.
