PARLIAMENTARY SEATS
“Time Opportune For Increase” The time seemed opportune tor an amendment to the Electoral Act to increase the size of Parliament and give better representation to those who lived in scattered areas of rural electorates, said Mr C C A McLachlan, the chairman, in his report to the annual meeting of the Canterbury-Westland division of the National Party yesterday “The area of some of our country seats and the diminishing representation from the South Island are now becoming serious.” he said.
