Mr C. H. Taylor, departmental manager in charge of weaving, comes from a carpet-making family. His father and grandfather were in the trade in Kidderminster, his maternal grandfather was a wool classer in a carpet factory and a great-uncle was a carpet dyer. Mr Taylor was in the first party of Kidderminster experts to come to Riccarton to establish the mill. His wife, another carpet maker, also assisted in the early days at Riccarton.
