FLOODING IN SOCKBURN
Relief Measures Approved Improvements to drainage to obviate the flooding which has occurred in Symes, Vickery, and Haytons roads. Sockburn, were approved by the Christchurch Drainage Board. The decision was made after discussions with the Paparua County Council. The board agreed that it would let a contract about the end of this year for the first section of the permanent conduit and culverts from Symes road to Wigram aerodrome; and that the Ministry of Works and the County Council should be asked to assist with measures designed to give some temporary relief.
Property Passed In,—A nine-roomed house on 42 perches of land at 11 Tovey street, South Brighton, was passed in at auction at £5OOO The property includes a large concrete workeihop. Bidding started at £4500.
