Industrial Troubles
Sir.—Mr Dalziel's published statement simply proves the point I made in my previous letter. Nationalists use Mr Walsh and certain of his statements just when it suits them. Unfortunately, I have not a copy of the report beside me. but from memory lam quite sure I could find a quotation in it that would not be acceptable to Mr Dalziel and his National friends. However, surely nobody would quarrel with the sentiments quoted by Mr Dalziel from the Walsh report. It is when we come to examine how they are observed in disputes by the employers that they lose their significance of merit. If machinery exists for the amicable settlement of disputes, why the necessity to deregister unions? Is this part of the machinery? Your reasonably-minded readers will agree that Mr Dalziel has failed to prove that Mr Walsh "threatens” to institute “bloody revolution and civil war” in New Zealand.— Yours, etc., TOM BRYCE.
