Decrease Of £l4.lni For Year The net excess of small savings (including interest > for the year ended March 31 was £ 16.9 m, according to the April Abstract of Statistics. This was £ 14.1 m less than the net excess of savings during the previous year. Deposits for the year increased by £ 10.1 m, but this was more than offset by an increase in withdrawals of £ 24.8 m. The total amount to the credit of depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank, the six Trustee Savings Banks, and National Savings Accounts at the end of March. 1962. was £454.8m (including interest), as compared with £437.9m (including interest) at the end of March. 1961.
