Nelson Player’s Award
(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON. May X. The Central Districts cricketer. B. E. Congdon has been awarded the "Nelson Evening Mail Sports Edition" Sportsman of the Year trophy for 1961-62. His Plunket Shield batting average was 41.6, the third highest in New Zealand, and his average for Nelson in Hawke Cup matches was 74.25.
