Italy Gains 3-0 Winning Lead (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON. May 20. Italy, beaten by Australia in last year’s Challenge Round, qualified for the quar-ter-finals of the European Zane of the Davis Cun when it gained a winning 3-0 lead over the Soviet Union in their second-round tie in Florence yesterday. Italy followed up its two singles wins on Friday with a 7-5. 6-2. 6-3, doubles win by N Pietrangeli and O Sirola over T. Lejus and Likhachev. In the quarter-finals, Italy meets Hungary, which gained a 3-0 lead over Denmark by winning the doubles in Budapest Sweden, Germany and Brazil also made certain of quarter-final places Second day positions: Florence: Italy leads Soviet Union 3-0 Warsaw: Brazil leads Poland 3-0 Hanover: Germany leads Rumania 3-0 Budapest: Hungary leads Denmark 3-0 Brussels: Sweden leads Belgium 3-0
