SHIP ABANDONED.—Some of the ‘crew of the Norwegian fish-carrier Elgo take to the sea in a rubber life-raft off Iceland after the ship was abandoned when she began to list and take water. The list was caused by the Elgo’s cargo of herrings moving. The crew were picked up by the Icelandic Coast Guard vessel Thord which towed the Elgo to the safety of the Vestmann Islands, off Iceland’s south coast.
