LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
Broadcasting And TV Policy
The same policy as adopted in 1959 wmuld apply for the 1962 local body elections—extensive publicity would be given both to the date of the elections and the duty of voters to exercise their privilege of voting, said the Director-General of the New Zealand Broadcaring Corporation <Mr G. H. Stringer) in a letter to the City Council last evening. The council recently asked for the allocation of time over the air and on television at the time of the election.
“We had in mind something more than this; that time be allocated to some candidates.” said Cr. R M Macfarlane. MP., propoeing that the letter be referred to the flnancq and by-laws committee.
