SALEYARDS SITE
Move Favoured By Council
A request for parking facilities in Hagley Park for persons attending the Addington saleyards was declined by the City Council las: evening.
The council asked its abattor and reserves committee to consider making land available in the Sockburn district for the re-siting of the saleyards as a reserve for the eventual removal of the yards. A sub-committee which met a deputation of saleyards users recently considered that the provision of parking facilities should be the < responsibility of the Canterbury Saleyarc(S Company, the commifee said. It also felt that the saleyards should be moved and that land in Sockburn should be offered to the company to enable it to rebuild.
