IMPRISONED FOR RECEIVING
To Save For Trip To Ireland
Charles John Morrison, aged 29, a labourer <Mr A. Hearn', was sentenced to 11 months’ imprisonment when he pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court yesterday to a charge of receiving a bicycle valued at £2B 10s, knowing it to have been stolen.
He was also placed on one year's probation, on the special condition that he sets aside in the savings bank regular sums of money according to the probation officer’s directions. Mr Justice Richmond said he wanted to do everything he could to encourage Morrison' to save enough to return to Ireland and make a fresh start. Morrison’s prison sentence would in part be concurrent with the nine months’ term he is now serving for false pretences.
