Move (N.ZJ’.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, May 14. The Caltex Oil Company announced tonight that the Ceylonese Government has seized their installations in Ceylon. Caltex is one of three Western companies operating on the island. A Caltex spokesman said that the Government had seized more than £350.000 worth of their equipment in and near Colombo. These included the takeover of 30 service stations, two large . fuel oil storage tanks and pumping equipment, one bulk depot and other facilities, resulting in the elosing of Caltex’s marine bunkering installations at Colombo.
"This has been <tone to put the Government-owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation in business. It has been done in spite of continuing United States aid to Ceylon amountting to many millions of dollars and a balance of trade with the United States favourable to Ceylon," the spokesman said.
"The, new company will be supplied with refined products principally from the Soviet Union Thus, the Russians will be shipping a complete range of petroleum products into Ceylon for storage and handling through Ameri-can-owned facilities for which they have paid nothing," the spokesman said.
