Prices Steady

On Dunedin

(N.Z. Press Association) j AUCKLAND. May 16. ' Prices on the first day of the fourth main wool safe of the Auckland season today were generally on a par with current rates. •. The few lots of sd’s quality available were in strong dewand from the Continent and were 2| per cent, to 5 perl cent, higher than the ruling rates at Dunedin on May 7. I

Prices for se/ond-rhear wool, the bulk of the offering, were from fd to id less than, those on the Dunedin market I The market for the limited offering of lambs’ wool was irregular and prices remained the same. ,

The sale limit was originally at 47,000 bales for the two-day sale, but only 38.335 bales are being brought forward.

The principal buyers today were the Continent and the United States. Bradford bought sparingly, and Japan, which was an important buyer at the corresponding sale last year, restricted its ourchases to a few lots.
