SYDNEY, May 16, Investment stocks rose more strongly this week on the Sydney stock exchange. The ordinary share price index rose 2.25 points to 309.09 in the week to Tuesday, May 151
Banks and insurance companies have remained active and firm.
Rothmans dropped 3s to 74s 6d. Mark Foys released news of a decline in profits of over £lOO,OOO, although dividends will be maintained at 12J per cent. Initially the shares fell more than 2s to Us but later firmed to Ils 9d. The Victorian based soft drink retailer, Marchant and Company. Ltd., was added to the official list yesterday, but no sales were recorded. The hire purchase company, 1.A.C., reported the acquisition of a 37$ per cent, interest in the L. J. Hookersponsored project. Centenary Estates. The shares of all three companies were unaffected.
