TROTTING Oamaru Winners Should Win Again At Washdyke

Adioway and Great Credit, impressive winners at the Oamaru meeting last week, are selected to win again in the T.A.B. doubles races at the Timaru Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Washdyke on Saturday.

Adioway and Great Credit both appeared to have plenty in reserve at the finish of their races at Oamaru and the rise in class at Washdyke should not trouble either of them. Both horses will be opposed by big fields, but with average luck they should escape trouble and continue on their winning way.

Adioway gained one of the easiest wins seen this season

winter conditions and if they strike a soft track, they should be prominent. El Adem, which was pulled up after meeting trouble at Oamaru, Silent Hall. Enrich and Robyn might also race well, but on a reasonably firm track, they are unlikely to prove much of a threat to Adioway. Grand Stayer Great Credit should be too strong in stamina for his rvials in the second leg, the May Handicap, which will be run over two miles. Great Credit was an easy winner over that distance in the Papakaio Handicap at Oamaru. He lost ground at the start, but recovered quickly to take the lead at the end of seven furlongs. From then on he was pacing well within himself and at the finish he won handily from QuantriU. Great Credit does not took to be meeting a very strong field at WaAdyke and provided he begins reasonably well, he should be untroubled to gain his third win for the season.

for second behind Darkie Hanover over two miles at Forbury Park earlier in the month, but they failed rather dismally in a sprint race at Oamaru last Saturday. The longer distance in this race might suit Vivacis better than Seafield Lady, but it will not surprise if both are prominent

when he beat My Share and Smokey Hall by four lengths in the C. L. Ayson Handicap. He raced to the front near the two furlongs and his trainer-driver, G. B. Noble, liad hun under a good hold from then on. Had he been allowed to stretch out, there is Mttle doubt that he would have more than doubled his winning advantage. Adioway has now had three starts this season for two wins and a second placing. These have been his only races for more than two years. He is still not at his peak, but he should be untroubled to run out the 14 furlongs in the President’s Handicap, the first leg of this double. Estimation is unlikely to be much of a threat to Adioway, but he should at least reach a place. He finished second to Arriaga over two miles at Oamaru lart week after meeting trouble at the end of two furtongs. There was merit in his placing and he looks to be in line for another win. Cairnbrae is one of the speediest pacers in his class, but unfortunately he is not reliable at the barrier. He did well to finish seventh at Oamaru last Saturday after losing a big stretch of ground at the start. Cairnbrae has been lightly raced and he can be expected to show sharp improvement. He, too, should take part in the finish. Stormhght and Throwaway paced sound races for third and fourth respectively at Oamaru. Both are adept in

A win for any of the others would be rather a surprise. My Share finished fairly well for second to Adioway at Oamaru, but it is doubtful whether he will be capable of mastering a solid two miles. However, if the pace is not strong, he could take part in the finish. Marquess and Moneymusk should de best of the remainder.

Oreti Now At Methven

Oreti, runner-up to Morano Boy on the second night of the recent Forbury Park meeting and a winner a week earlier, is now being trained at Methven by C. V. May. A five-year-old gelding by Springbok from Arietta, Oreti is a half-brother to Demetrius, Merrymaker, Tiberius and White Oaks, and a brother to Rosalinda. Oreti has never been raced extensively and from 30 starts he has had five wins and nine platings worth £2157 10s in stakes. He will probably have his first start for his new trainer in the Fendalton Handicap at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s winter meeting on Saturday week.

Flying Alisa failed at Forbury Park at her most recent start, but she had won at her two previous appearances, including the New Zealand Pacing Stakes at Addington last month. The Flying Song filly is a sound stayer and with a smooth start, she should give a good account of herself.

Vivacis and Seafield Lady have shown form over- two miles, although both are inclined to be wayward at the barrier. They dead-heated
