FARMERS’ MEETINGS
Hope For New Hall The hope that there would soon be a conference hall at Lincoln College was expressed at the opening of the twelfth farmers' conference yesterday by the chairman of the college council. Mr T. D J. Holderness. This year's conference, which is being attended by about 450 farmers from all parts of the island, began yesterday in a new setting away from the college—the Lincoln community centre hall—which Mr Holderness said had superior acoustic qualities to the college refectory where conferences have been held in recent years and was also much more suitable for the showing of slides. ‘Those of you who read The Press' will have seen recently the sketch plans of the proposed new laboratory and teaching block for the college." said Mr Holderness •'Associated with this, though not part of the project, is the colleges intention to erect a conference hall For this purpose the college already holds a substantial fund due to the generosity of the Meat and Wool Boards, to which the college has added from its own resources., and we hope that the day will not be too distant when this conference will be adequately housed in a hall designed for the purpose."
