Proof Of Claim
(N Z. Pres* Assn.—Copyright) ALGIERS. May 16. Tension had increased in Algiers after yesterday’s terrorism, in which the Secret Army Organisation carried out its frequent boast —“the O.A.S. strikes whom it wants, wl#re it wants, when it wants." O.A.S. gunmen roamed the streets of Algiers, shooting Moslems in a reprisal against the Moslems who killed 17 Europeans on Monday, the British United Press reported. The casualty toil for the whole of the country was 77 dead and 40 wounded.
Fifty-three Moslems and two Europeans were killed in 76 separate attacks in Algiers yesterday. Algiers police said that the attacks were well planned, although carried otit by lone gunmen. The O.A.S. had continually claimed that it could operate in Algiers and Oran as it pleased.
