JUNIOR RED CROSS
Voluntary Nature
Of Service
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON. May 16.
“We do not want a compulsory Red Cross —that would defeat our object of voluntary service,” said the president of the New Zealand Red Cross Society (Brigadier K. McCormick). opening the New Zealand Junior Red Cross Society’s council meeting today. Brigadier McCormick had mentioned that many schools had Junior Red Cross groups and that the aim of the society was to have groups in all schools. "While we have accomplished so much, we still want to go on,” he said.
“I have a strong feeling it is not too great a vision that some day the great number of members passing through the Red Cross movement will be such a vital force in the world that they will make an end to the frightful turmoil of today and we will enter an era of peace.”
