STUD BULL FOR U.S.
£4500 Offer Made (N.Z. Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, May 11. Donald Grant and Company (Mangatoro Stud) have been offered a record 12.500 dollars (about £4500) and will sell, subject to an inspection later this month, their 20month bull, Elegance 29th of Mangatoro, the top junior yearling at last year’s national show in Dannevirke. Elegance 29th would be the first New Zealand-bred Aberdeen Angus to be sold to the United States of America. Referring to the offer yesterday, Mr Grant said it had been conducted by the American agent. Mr Clint Thomson, who showed great interest in the animal when he visited Dannevirke last September. During that visit Mr Thomson purchased the yearling's sire. Elegance of Charterhouse. Mr Grant, who turned down an offer of 2700 guineas for the young animal at the national sales, said yesterday that Elegance 29th was from Mangatoro's famous Perdita strain which has produced most of its numerous showwinners. According to Mr Grant, it is probably the most outstanding bull he has bred and could be quite readily sold in New Zealand. He would be pleased, however, to see Mangatoro blood go to America. Elegance 29th will be inspected by an agent of the intending buyer, whose name has not been disclosed, within the next fortnight
