YACHT CLUB’S GESTURE

Instruction For Scouts Tomorrow morning the Pleasant Point Yacht Club will, for the first time, make available a yacht to the South Brighton scout group. The group scoutmaster (Mr A G. Boreham) said yesterday that the club had decided to make available a yacht to give the scouts instruction in the handling of the craft and yachting generally. Members of the club would supervise scouts in their activities, and it was hoped that at some time in the future a crew of scouts might enter the yacht in races. Before the scouts would be allowed on the yacht, they would have to have their swimming badges, said Mr Boreham. Most of the scouts had also undergone instruction in mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

On Tuesday the scouts and their parents would be able to attend an illustrated lecture in the scout den on the work being done in the Antarctic. A film would be shown and a lecture given by Lieutenant-Commander P L. Rendelson. of the United States Navy On Thursday the group would go to Harewood to be shown over some of the United States equipment and facilities.
