FULL, FRANK TALKS
Mr Holyoake And Mr Rusk (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 11. “Full and frank” was the description applied by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) to discussions he had with the United States Secretary of State (Mr Rusk) on the Common Market and related trade matters. Mr Holyoake was speaking at a meeting of the National Party’s Dominion executive in Wellington today. “I placed New Zealand’s point of view before Mr Rusk, that in the policy of less restrictive trading which America was seeking, primary products should receive comparable emphasis with manufactured goods,” said Mr Holyoake. t New Zealand’s fight to secure her vital interests in this respect was continuing
“without respite.” Mr Holyoake said. He said he could give no major news of the Common Market negotiations, but it was expected that more would, be known after the current first formal meeting in Brussels of the Lord Privy Seal (Mr Heath), the Secretary for Commonwealth Relations (Mr Sandys) and Ministers of the six E.E.C. countries.
