“Hamner”
Sir. —On Sunday evening, we were surprised to hear a pleasantly-spoken Lass from Station 3YA informing us of snow hazards in the “Lewis Pass-HAMner" areas. Within half an hour an equally pleasing female voce inflicted the same mispronunciation on our disbelieving ears, from Station 3ZB. Why. we wonder, is this mistake so widespread? Surely st least our radio announcers could overcome it.—Yours, etc... RANGIORA LISTENERS. April 16. 1962.
