STANDARD CALL
“Reluctant” Decision (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 20. The committee of inspection has decided that a call of 10s a share be made on uncalled capital in the Standard Insurance Company.
Mr M. M. Caudwell, the chairman of the committee of inspection, announced the committee's decision yesterday. A meeting of the company’s contributories was held in Dunedin on Wednesday.
“After the most careful consideration of the representations made to the liquidator, the statements of those shareholders who attended the meeting of contributories on April 18. and of all other circumstances, the committee has decided that a call of 10s a share must be made." Mr Caudwell said. “The committee reluctantly made its decision, being deeply conscious of its responsibilities and aware of the hardships it may involve. “The committee has made arrangements with the liquidator that all cases of undue hardship or inability to pay will receive individual consideration.”
