PROCESSION OF WITNESS
Custom Followed In Linwood About 200 persons, representing seven Protestant denominations, took part in a procession of witness yesterday. The procession, which started from and ended at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Phillips street, included Anglicans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, members of the Church of Christ, the Congregationalist Churches and the Salvation Army. Thirty girls from Te Wai Pounamu College also took part. Six stops were made during the two-mile procession and brief addresses were given. The final address was given by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren).
The procession was arranged by the Linwood Ministers’ Association and follows the English custom of a procession through the parish on Good Friday. *
