Mr H. W. Birdling, the assistant chief traffic superintendent of the City Council, has been appointed to a new position of deputy traffic superintendent (enforcement). Messrs W. G. Carter and W. H. Peterson, two senior officers of the Forest Service, will leave New Zealand on May 2, to visit the United States. Sweden, Germany, France, and Britain. Mr Carter is general manager of the Forest Service min at Waipa, Rotorua, and Mr Peterson is chief mechanical engineer in Wellington. Mr J. M. Ritchie, of Wellington, has been appointed honorary consul for the Netherlands—(P.A.) Messrs J. L. Wright, C. M. Brown and K. M. Baxter have been appointed members of the Workers’ Compensation Board. Mr Wright represents the Government and Mr Brown was nominated by the council of fire and accident underwriters’ association of New Zealand. Mr Baxter is the workers’ ; representative.
Mrs M. A. Rae has been appointed representative of the Canterbury Education Board on the Avonside Girls’ High School Board.
