Golf NYLON HEAD CLUBS
New Invention Tried Out (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, April 18. A new golf club with a nylon head is being tried out this week on various courses in Britain. The Invention of Mr T. Brown, a plastic engineer with a 24 handicap, and A. Gowers, the professional at toe Upminster club (Essex), it is described as perhaps toe biggest technical advance in golf since the introduction of toe rubber cored ball. “This is going to be an asset to the handicap golfer." says the "Daily Herald.” "Resilience tn the nylon face allows for greater accuracy. Even a shot off the toe of the club wUI go reasonably straight. Professionals who have used the club say it adds 25 to 30 yards to the drive.”
The "Daily Telegraph” says that without close examination it is impossible to tell which is a wooden club and which is nylon. "The nylon head is unaffected by damp or excessive heat. It can safely be left on the lawn overnight or dumped in the garage for the winter. One of the processes of production is to put the club head in boiling water for 200 hours. “One used in tests had been in water on the boil for a week. It was taken out and within minutes was being used on the tee. The drive went well over 250 yards.” WINDSOR LADIES’ CLUB.— Flag match—bronze division: Mrs K.
