DOUBLE AT HAWERA

Smoke Concert For Cup

"Th* Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. April IS. The Hawera Trotting Club's double on Saturday looks as elusive as in the last few years. The presence of several South Island horses in the cup, which is the first leg, cloud the issue. The dual success of Smoke Concert at Awapuni pointe to him being very hard to beat, while the latest form of the Pukekohe three-year-old Southern Smoke, is very encouraging. A threat to this pair is the Opunake mare Namu Lady, which has won at two of her only three starts this season. In the second leg, the Borough Handicap. Early Wynn, Michael Bingen and Bobbinet are likely to dispute the issue. The Juvenile Stakes should irovide another keen battle between Anarca Direct and Vanderford, which meet again 'n the first division. Selections:— 10.45 a.m.—Manala Handicap: Scotch Pleasure. Fourth Star. Goodwin. 11.25 a.m.—Trial Handicapfirst Division: Otara Girl, -uoer Chat. Second Division: Fair Pawn, No Reply. 12.15 p.m.—Kaponga Handicap: Grand Union Russley Song.
