COOL PLACED SECOND
Appeal Partly Successful (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, April 17. Mr W. Kupa’s appeal against the placing of his horse. Cool, in the Tamatete Handicap at Awapuni on March 31 was partly successful when the case was heard today, but the Wanganui district committee did not disturb the position of the winner. Diamond Head. Mr Kupa appealed against a decision of the Manawatu Racing Club’s judicial committee, which allowed the judge's placings to stand after an inquiry Into interference suffered by Cool, which was placed third The club committee fined N. C Collins, rider of Diamond Head, £l5 for his part in causing the interference and suspended K. J. Bull, rider of the second horse, Baloo, for two weeks. After hearing the appeal evidence today, the district committee reversed the minor placings, promoting Cool to second and relegating Baloo to third place. Mr T. De Cleene, of Palmerston North, appeared for Mr Kupa at the hearing, and the connexions of both Diamond Head and Baloo were represented by Mr W. G. Clayton, of Wanganui.
