Magistrate's Court Car Making U-Turn Struck Traffic Officer

When Geoffrey Kenneth Whisher, aged 52, made a Uturn in Manchester street on December 13 a traffic officer travelling behind him on a motor-cycle was struck by his car, the Magistrate’s Court was told yesterday when Whisher appeared before Mr E. A. Lee, SJW., on a charge of driving without due care and attention. Wihisher pleaded not guilty. He was convicted and discharged. Traffic Officer R. G. Deltow, said he had been travelling about eight to 12ft behind the defendant’s car when it pulled into the left, as though it was going to park, and then started to make a U-turn. He said the machine was not of sufficient power to carry two persons in accordance with the regulations.
