LAND DRAINAGE
Heathcote Schemes Approved Land drainage work in the Heathcote county was approved by the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening. The board previously agreed that it would aim at spending up to £ 10.000 on work ir. the county.
It was given a list of priorities and estimates by the County Council as follows: Stormwater outlet near the Curries road-Poit Hills road corner, £3000: Braebourne street conduit. Graverton section. £8000: Avoca Valley open drain diversion, no estimate: Martindales road east from Port Hills read to the railway. £3200: Braebcurr.e street oerduit. Hawker section. £7OOO
The board agreed to the first two items and possibly the third, after hearing from Mr H. F Page, the chief engineer (operations) that proposals for Braebourne street could possibly be modified at a reduced cost. The board also agreed with the council’s request that it would extend the area in which it carries out plumbing and drainage inspections to cover the whole county. The council’s request that the board’s chief inspector make minor health inspections in the county was agreed to by the board, subject to financial arrar.gerients being made.
