BREACH OF RULE
Owner Fined £2O Vantago was disqualified from second placing in the Me liven Two-year-old Stakes and his owner. Mr L. Duff, of Dunedin, was fir.ed £2O at an inquiry in Christchurch yesterday into an alleged breach of the Rules of Trotting. The inquiry was heard before the chief stipendiary steward. Mr L. A. Butterfield (chairman), and Messrs J McDonald (Metaven Trotting Club) and L. A. Mahoney. It came after the lodging of an objection by Mr Butterfield to Vantage's second placing in the race, run at the Me.hven Trotting Club's meeting on March 24. on the grounds that Vantago. together w-ith his registration papers, had not been produced for inspection as re-i quired by rule 119 (1).
Mr Butterfield lodged a fuirtner objection against Mr Duff on the grounds that he failed to produce the registration papens. together with the horse. for inspection before the New Zealand Golden Slipper Stakes at Waimate on December 9. the Rangiora Raceway Stakes on December 16. the Invitation Stakes at Orari on February 24 and the Timaru Nursery Stakes on March 10. Both objections were upheld The committee found that Mr Duff had committed a breach of rule 119 (1),
The placings in the Methven Two-year-old Stakes were altered to Torana 2. Earl Glebe 3. Chief Smile 4
