NEW SHIP FOR AUSTRALIAN RUN.—Lloyd Triestino is marking its one-hundred-and-twenty-fifth anniversary with two new passenger ships. This is an artist’s impression of the Galileo Galilei (27,500 tons), the first of the two ships, which was launched at Monfalcone, Italy, last July. She will make her maiden voyage to Australia later this year. Powered by steam turbines, the ship has an operational speed of 24 knots, accommodation for 1700 passengers, and a crew of 400. The Galileo Galilei is 663ft long, has a beam of 88ft, and a cargo capacity of more than 220,000 cubic ft.
