MINISTER’S VISIT
Manufacturers To Be Addressed The Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) will address a meeting of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association in Christchurch on April 26 Tliis was announced by the president of the association (Mr R H Stewart) at a meeting of its council last evening “I must express my personal view, and I hope it will be supported by the council that Mr Shelton is convinced of the need to provide a reasonable climate for manufacturing industries to New Zea. land.” Mr Stewart said. “We are fortunate that we have a Minister who is able to assess the situation both from t(ie importing and manufacturing viewpoints Mr Shelton’s view certainly gives one the opinion that it is recognised that the agricultural industries are playing a most essential part in our economy, but running parallel with those industries .must be manufacturing," Mr Stewart said.
