April 13 Eight seamen have walked off the British cargo ship North Devon tSTTB tonal in Vancouver, saying they woold not go with the ship to China and get "pushed around by the secret police." our private effects and stole our letters.” Another said: "Tientsin is one of the worst ports in the world.” He declined to elaborate. The seamen are deckhands. ranging in age from 17 to 25. They come from Newcastle-on-Tyne, where the North Devon is owned by the North Steamship Company. Tfie eight seamen reported ho immigration authorities yesterday. They are free to go as they please until the ship sails today.
