Pipe Dream Put Aside
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. April 13.
The good Takanini colt, Pipe Dream, will not be a runner in the Great Northern Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie next week. He has been put aside until next season. Pipe Dream was beaten surprisingly at Avondale when he last raced on March 31. Previously, he had secured five wins in 10 starts. An X-ray examination showed Pipe Dream to have a temporary leg weakness. It is expected that as he matures he will become free of the trouble.
Pipe Dream is the second well-performed youngster lost to the Great Northern Champagne Stakes. The other is Tara's Pride, from Stratford.
