Seven Prisoners Remanded
IN.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 13. Seven Auckland prison inmates. each in prison uniform and individually handcuffed to an escorting policeman, appeared before Mr R M Grant, S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today on assault charges arising from last Tuesday morning's disturbance at the prison. They were remanded to appear again next Wednesday. the police prosecutor (Sergeant A. J. O’Connor) saying the matter would be one for the Crown Solicitor to deal with. One man faced six charges and the others either two or one.
