CHEAP ATOMIC POWER FOR ENGLAND.—The Sizewell nuclear power station which is being built on the Suffolk coast a few miles from Leiston. It is expected to go into service in 1965 and to produce electricity as cheaply as the most modern conventional power station. Work on the project started a year ago and is reported to be at least four weeks ahead of schedule. The station is being built by the Central Electricity Generating Board, the contract cost being £55 million. The over-all cost, including the initial charge of nuclear fuel, will be about £7l million.
