BIDS REACH £64,000
Standard Ins. Building (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 12. The Standard Insurance Company’s five-storey building in Victoria street east, Auckland, was withdrawn from sale at a city auction this afternoon after bidding ended at £64,000. More than 100 persons filled every available space in the auction room, Latecomers had to. stand outside Bidding started at £40.000 and rose quickly in bids of £5OOO and £2500 to £60.000 The building . was withdrawn after only four more bids, each of £lOOO The Government valuation is £60,000 The auctioneer said the highest offers would be submitted to the Standard Insurance Company’s liquidator in Dunedin for consideration.
