Free Packages Of Coke

Packaged coke, in 10!b bags, has been delivered free to 7500 homes in Christchurch by a coke merchant. Two bags of the coke, one of fine grade for incinerators and closed fires, and the other of coarse grade for open fires, are being d livered to homes in selected districts.

"There is no surplus of coke. In fact, last winter only a run of good weather prevented a shortage of the fine coke,” said the manager of the firm yesterday.

“We are giving awav the coke free, mostly in the newer housing districts, because we think there is now a generation who do not know anything at all about burning coke. The deliveru-u began on March 22. and we hope to deliver 30.000 bag* to 15,006 homes before the winter begins in earnest ’’
